Social protection for sustainable development – perspectives from the Asia-Pacific

ESCAP presented “Social Protection in Asia and the Pacific” at a webinar as part of the UNSSC-ILO organized online course on “Social Protection for Sustainable Development”. ESCAP provided an overview of existing gaps in social protection in Asia and the Pacific, highlighted social protection trends in the region and shared some country examples that are also showcased in the Social Protection Toolbox.
The webinar was held on 20 June, during which global trends and good practices in extending social protection were discussed. Participants in the five-week long course consisted of government officials, development agencies, bilateral donors, worker and employer organizations as well as members of civil society and academia.
