Monitoring and Evaluation

The busy fish market held early in the mornings at the beach off Negombo. Packed with fishermen, merchants and customers, as well as carrion birds seeking a free meal, the market is held right on the shoreline, within a few metres of the Arabian Sea. The region, and its vital commerce, was badly hit by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.

The Fund attaches high priority to monitoring and evaluation, to clearly identify the outputs and results achieved during the life of a project, the project’s overall impact, lessons learned that can inform future project design, and identify and address any problems with project implementation at an early stage. The ‘project’ section of this website contains updated information on the progress of ongoing projects.

The Fund’s Monitoring and Evaluation Framework includes guidelines for monitoring and evaluation both of the overall Fund, as well as individual projects that are supported by the Fund. A full copy of the Framework, including general monitoring and evaluation principles, is available below.

Implementing organizations are required to submit periodic progress reports (as per the schedule agreed to in the Letter of Agreement), as well as terminal reports. Templates for these reports can be downloaded below.

In 2008 and 2011, evaluative reviews of the Trust Fund were carried out. Please click on the links below to access the reports.
