Capacity Building Workshop on Strengthening Transport Connectivity among the Cambodia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Myanmar, Viet Nam and Thailand (CLMV-T)
Over the past several years, countries in South East Asia have improved their transport and logistics efficiency. Despite such achievements, efficient transport linkages among Cambodia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Myanmar, Viet Nam and Thailand (CLMV-T) still faces numerous challenges. To support countries in overcoming them, ESCAP has been organizing workshops on strengthening operational transport connectivity among these countries.
During the last workshop held in Myanmar, the participants requested the continuing support of the secretariat in facilitating such workshops as strengthening operational transport connectivity among CLMV-T countries is a long-term task and needs sustained efforts.
In this background and in continuation of earlier three workshops, the secretariat is organizing the above captioned Workshop with the following objectives; (i) to share experience on common challenges to facilitate transport/transit among CLMV-T countries;(ii) to discuss the recommendations of a study on efficient port community systems in selected CLMV-T countries;(iii) to explore development of an action plan to strengthen transport connectivity among the CLMV-T countries as a high level document for adoption by countries.
