Expert Group Meeting on Use of New Technologies for Facilitation of International Railway Transport
Use of new technologies is changing the ways how the regulatory and operational controls are undertaken by railways and border agencies at the railway border crossings. In the ESCAP region many railways extensively using and benefiting from the electronic exchange of information among various stakeholders in railway transportation.
To further enhance the use of electronic exchange of information for efficient international railway transport ESCAP is organizing an Expert Group Meeting on use of new technologies for facilitation of international railway transport back to back with the sixth biennial working group meeting on the Trans-Asian Railway Network.
The objective of the EGM would include: (a) share experience on good practices in electronic information exchange among various railway stakeholders to reduce border crossing time and (b) discuss and recommend further concrete action to promote electronic information exchange among railways among member countries.
