National Validation Workshop - Vanuatu’s Smooth Transition Strategy

30 Oct 2019
Port Vila, Vanuatu
By invitation only

The Vanuatu Government recognized the UN decision for Vanuatu to graduate from the least developed country status on the 4th of December 2020. The Council of Ministers (COM) endorsed the establishment of the LDC National Coordinating Committee (LDC NCC) comprised of various relevant stakeholders to coordinate efforts across government and facilitate consultations with national stakeholders.

The LDC NCC has been mandated to manage Vanuatu’s transition period. The coordinating committee oversaw the formulation of a Smooth transition strategy (STS) for Vanuatu. Several rounds of stakeholder consultations have been completed, including in the various provinces. With a consolidated draft strategy in place, it is timely for all government officials, private sector, NGO and relevant stakeholders to engage in discussions and assist with finalizing the smooth transition strategy.

The workshop is organized by the LDC NCC in collaboration with and partially funded by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
