Pavilion of Partnerships for Transformation towards Sustainable and Resilient Societies in Asia and the Pacific
The Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) is now a fully recognized part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) follow up and review process and institutionalized as part of the ESCAP commission structure. As an annual inclusive and intergovernmental forum, the APFSD supports the region in preparations for the global High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) by enhancing capacity, capturing and sharing regional perspectives and supporting the review of progress toward implementation of the 2030 Agenda. In line with resolution 73/1, the 5th Session of the Forum will support follow-up and review of progress on the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals at the regional level through
- assessing progress and providing opportunities for peer-learning related to the theme and goals that will be reviewed at the High-level Political Forum in 2018;
- supporting the presentation of Voluntary National Reviews; and
- undertaking a review of progress of the road map for implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific.
As requested through resolution 73/1, the theme of the 5th session of the APFSD is aligned with the theme of the 2018 HLPF: “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies” and will support an in-depth review of cluster of goals 6 - Clean water and sanitation; 7 - Affordable and clean energy; 11 - Sustainable cities and communities; 12 - Responsible consumption and production; 15 - Life on land; Furthermore, goal 17 - Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development is to be considered each year .
The 5th session of the APFSD will be organized from March 28-30, 2018 at the UNCC in Bangkok. It will be preceded by a Stakeholder Forum and additional events from March 26-27, 2018.
Scope of the Pavilion of Partnerships
The objective of the Pavilion of Partnerships is to provide additional informal space for member States, civil society, UN agencies and other stakeholders to share good practices for integrated and inclusive approaches for implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including a focus on the cluster of SDGs (6, 7, 11, 12, 15 and 17) to be reviewed in-depth at the 2018 HLPF.
How does it work?
Participants in the Pavilion of Partnerships (member States, UN agencies, other partners and stakeholders) are most welcome to share their knowledge products, audio-visual materials and other non-traditional means of information sharing and interactive engagement of audiences in addition to posters, hand-outs, leaflets, booklets, publications) at designated booths in the exhibition area, as well as during side events and networking sessions taking place during the 5th APFSD.
Networking sessions, including Voluntary National Reviews (VNR) presentations, learning café, market place sessions and others will be hosted to allow stakeholders and policy makers attending the 5th APFSD to share and promote pertinent issues in a non-formal setting.
