Second Meeting of the Group of Experts for Strengthening Regional Cooperation on Social Protection in Asia and the Pacific, Bangkok, 6-7 November 2019
The ESCAP secretariat will be convening the second meeting of the Group of Experts for Strengthening Regional Cooperation on Social Protection in Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok from 6 to 7 November 2019.
The ESCAP secretariat established the Group of Experts in early 2019 in response to a recommendation by the ESCAP Committee on Social Development, at its fifth session held in November 2018, to develop a regional modality for strengthening regional cooperation on social protection. The Group of Experts consists of official representatives of ESCAP members and associate members and is represented by all five ESCAP subregions.
The second meeting of the Group of Experts aims to further develop the draft regional modality on social protection, building on contributions that representatives to the Group of Experts provided at its first meeting in June 2019, as well as written inputs received in August and September 2019.
Following the second meeting, the draft modality on social protection will be disseminated to all ESCAP members and associate members for further feedback and discussion.
The modality is expected to support ESCAP members and associate members in accelerating progress towards the realization of universal social protection and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
