Urban Innovation Challenge: Citypreneurs
"Urban Innovation Challenge: Citypreneurs" is a city-based start-up competition, started in 2017, that promotes innovation-driven solutions to solve urban challenges and accelerate the achievement of the UN 2030 Agenda. Citypreneurs aims to create an international ecosystem and a platform for young entrepreneurs and start-ups worldwide interested in creating positive social, economic, and environmental impacts.
Co-hosted by ESCAP, UNDP, WFUNA, WeGO, Seoul Metropolitan Government and organized by Seoul Digital Foundation, the competition will be held on 31 October in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Guided by citizen-generated data on areas they wanted to see their local government improve on, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the competition focuses on three critical urban issues: green energy; urban mobility; and social protection.
During the course of competition, pre-entrepreneurship education, a mentoring program and tech sponsorships are provided to 30 selected teams. The event will also feature a policy dialogue consisting of two panels covering (1) the Successes and Challenges of Youth Entrepreneurship for the SDGs in Seoul and Beyond, and (2) Youth Innovation for the SDGs in the 4th Industrial Revolution.
