5th United Nations Conference on Green Industry
5th Green Industry Conference, organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Government of Thailand, takes place from 3 - 5 October 2018, in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 5th Green Industry Conference is taking place under the theme “Green Industry for Sustainable Development” and will bring together leaders from government, business, research and finance to design solutions to advance sustainable development through the greening of industry, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Intended as a multi-stakeholder global forum, the conference is expected to be attended by more than 400 participants from all over the world. High-level segments of the conference will feature government ministers, representatives of international, regional and national organizations and development banks, private sector CEOs, civil society and non-governmental organizations. Organizations from specialized global sustainability networks, as well as technical experts working at the intersection of industry and environment, will also play key roles during the conference’s proceedings.
Held since 2009, the Green Industry Conference is the premier global conference on green industry trends and practices organized every two years by UNIDO and partner organizations. Previous conferences were held in Ulsan, Republic of Korea (2016); Guangzhou, China (2013); Tokyo, Japan (2011) and Manila, Philippines (2009). The aim of the Green Industry Conference is to scale up and mainstream green industry policies, methods and techniques throughout developing and transition-economy industries.
