Abstract

Public participation increases the likelihood that services provided by public agencies reflect the needs of people and ensures that development benefits are more equitably shared. This publication is designed as a practical guide for planners and researchers for participatory approaches in planning and policy development for transport systems. It provides information on the organization of a participatory process and how it can be analyzed, synthesized and used in the preparation of plans or policy formulation. This participatory process and analytical tool is also useful for participatory planning and policy development in other sectors.
